United romp back to form
Blackburn United 5 Harthill Royal 1
Without any competitive action since their first league defeat back in early December against fellow title contenders Tranent, United romped back to form with a comfortable victory over strugglers Harthill Royal. A Chris Simpson goal to the good after just two minutes, Andy McQuillan added a second after his initial attempt from the spot was saved and Simpson netted a third just before the interval. Early in the second half McQuillan claimed his eighteenth goal of a so far fruitful season and young midfielder Simpson wrapped up the home sides scoring with the final goal of his hat-trick shortly after the hour mark. The visitors netted a consolation from the penalty spot some fifteen minutes from time but Blackburn passed up several more chances before the final whistle that might have made the win all the more resounding ahead of next weeks trip to Pumpherston.
